Important - Coronavirus update

Last updated: 25th October 2021

Many thanks for your interest in the Abridge EduCamp program. It has been a challenging couple of years, with the program cancelled for the past two summers due to the coronavirus pandemic. We appreciate that this has been incredibly disappointing for our EduCampers, and thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult times.

Incoming/ deferred EduCampers:

The EduCamp program (including the summer camp and homestay tutor options) has been cancelled for all departures in 2021. All shortlisted 2021 applicants should have received an email offering the choice between a full refund of their deposit or program fee, or a deferred place for 2022. Please contact us via your applicant dashboard if you did not receive this message.

The 2022 placement matching process is currently paused until we have more confirmed details on the number of places available from each of our partner camps and are more certain of possible travel restrictions. This is to give you the best chance of successfully matching with a placement and to reduce the impact of any cancellations or travel restriction changes.

Please be reassured that, if you chose to defer your place to 2022, you will be given priority during the placement matching process. We will not be offering any places to 2022 applicants until our deferred applicants have had the opportunity to connect with partner camps.

New applicants for 2022:

We are now accepting applications for the year 2022. However, we will not be reviewing new applications until we are more certain how many places will be available and we are confident the program will be going ahead.

This is to protect you from needing to commit (and pay a deposit) at such an early stage. In previous years we are aware that some applicants turned down other opportunities in order to pursue the EduCamp program but were ultimately left disappointed – a situation we would like to avoid this year. Therefore, please do not be concerned if you do not hear back from us about your application for some time.

General:

Please be aware that our partner camps are generally unable to cover costs associated with quarantine or coronavirus testing requirements. If these travel restrictions are still in place by summer 2022, we may have to make the decision to cancel the program or only offer places to applicants who are already in-country.

Additionally, many of our partner camps are still unsure as to whether or not they will be accepting international EduCampers in 2022, due to the significant upfront logistical and marketing costs associated with organising summer camps and ongoing concerns about the coronavirus pandemic. This may have an impact on the number of places available in 2022.

We are continually monitoring official updates, FCO advice and notices from local authorities and emphasise that your safety is our number one priority.

Thank you again for your interest in the EduCamp program and continued support. We really hope to welcome many of you to join us in 2022.
