We have made the difficult decision to cancel the Abridge EduCamp (summer camp) program this summer. Although the local situation in China has significantly improved, with most cities now running as normal and schools reopening, the global coronavirus pandemic has meant that significant travel restrictions are still in place. Participant safety is our number one priority and unfortunately, given the risk of virus exposure, travel restrictions and social distancing guidelines, we felt that would be unable to adequately support participants or provide the real EduCamp experience on our programs this summer. All of those due to join our camps this summer have been informed and offered the choice between deferring their place until next summer or a full refund of their deposit/ program fee.
The homestay tutor program is a more flexible program, with no program fee or upfront costs to applicants and variable start dates throughout the year. We have therefore made the decision to postpone start dates indefinitely, with the aim to re-open the program as soon as travel restrictions to China have been lifted. We encourage you to continue with your application but be aware that there may be some flexibility required, particularly for those hoping to start in the next few months. Additionally, we are offering all applicants free online Chinese classes, cultural activities and TEFL training to enjoy in the meantime! Note that this program runs all year round, so even if you are unable to join us on your preferred start date, we may be able to find another opportunity for you to participate later in the year (e.g. we have previously had several university students join us during their Christmas vacation).
